Reece Prescod, was born in central London. He grew up in East London and attended the prestigious Davenant Foundation School where he took a liking to athletics. He then attended a local sprints meeting at Lee Valley athletics centre , and was picked up by coach Eddie Stevens. He then achieved a silver medal at the National U17 Championships and was scouted to go to Oaklands Athletics Academy by head coach Ryan Freckleton.
In his first year he won the indoor and outdoor national title in the 200m and placed top 3 globally for his age. In his final junior year he ran 20.70 over the 200m which ranked him number 1 in Europe for his age. He was then offered a junior professional contract with Nike to train full-time as an athlete and join coach Jonas Tawiah-Dodoo and support staff Ruth Waghorn, Leah Dunthorne & Gareth Degg.
In 2017 he won the National trials for the 2017 World Championships in the 100m & went on the finish 7th globally.
A year later he won the British title and went on to win a silver medal at the 2018 European Athletics Championships in Berlin he ran a personal best that season off 9.94 & ran sub-10 on four occasions in that season and finished 4th ranked worldwide.
As a part of the British Athletics World Class Performance Programme, he continued to develop. In 2019, he ran 9.97 for his first race & got injured in his second outing of the season, missing the World Championships in Doha.
He prepared for the 2020 season with the Olympics in sight. However, the Covid-19 pandemic canceled the date giving him an extra year of preparation he decided to relocate to the USA to train with one of the best coaches in the world, Mike Holloway. His journey shall continue.
